Mark de Boer

Mark de Boer is Vice President Sustainability at Albemarle, a global leader in lithium and a key player in the energy transition. He leads Albemarle’s global sustainability agenda, encompassing decarbonization, corporate reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

Earlier in his career, Mark led and supported product innovation, new business development, M&A, and investor relations, and facilitated numerous strategic initiatives at both business and corporate levels. He chairs the Sustainable Lithium Committee of the International Lithium Association (ILiA) and represents Albemarle in Cefic’s Sustainability Forum, advancing international sustainability standards and initiatives for a more sustainable industry.

Mark holds a PhD in Catalysis from Utrecht University. With over 30 years of experience in the chemical industry across a range of functional areas, he combines deep technical expertise with strategic and organizational leadership to drive sustainable transformation. He has a particular interest in strengthening the resilience of the Dutch chemical industry in the face of the ongoing energy transition.
