Marie-Thérèse Rooijackers has been working as a policy advisor at the FNV trade union since 2015. Before that, she worked as a project manager and consultant mainly active in social innovation (workplace innovation) and the regional labor market. She is also self-employed in the field of social innovation. She studied History in Utrecht and later completed a postgraduate study in general management and training sciences.

Since 2018 she has been active at the FNV with energy transition and the labor market. Together with FNV union officials workers and members she wrote the vision on climate policy and energy transition and was active in the process towards the Dutch Climate Agreement. Together with colleagues, she is a linking pin between several FNV sectors and organizes meetings and training courses for works councils, local (citizen) networks and young people. She participates in the Program Council of the National Program Council Regional Energy Strategies (NPRES).

The guiding principle for FNV and the international trade union movement is Just Transition and decent jobs. This means fair pay with stable contracts, social dialogue, attention for health and safety of the workers and attention to lifelong learning to keep up with innovations and transitions within companies and on the labour market. After all, the workers are also stakeholders in the transition. To quote Frans Timmermans: “The green deal shall be social or shall not be”.
